Amy Clay- artist research

These are some images of Amy Clay's art work. This art work that she has created is from when she was travelling in India. She drew on banyon leaves (a local, traditional Indian leaf) and on handmade paper. The designs and patterns that she drew were inspired from her time in India and because she saw a lot of pattern out there. She said that everywhere she looked was pattern, from elephants to hands and feet.
I have researched this artist's work because she has done some paisley designs which is what I am interested in for this project, also because she has drawn on leaves and is interested in nature which I might incorporate into this project. I like the idea of drawing on natural objects like leaves.

contact sheet of textures

This is a contact sheet of some textures that I have scanned in. I like patterns, especially paisley which is why I am going to use these for this project. I have scanned in some of my personal objects such as my mittens, a cardigan, 3 scarves, a coat and a bag. This is because I really like the pattern and design on these items, which is why I wear them so it's nice to include them in this project. I have also scanned in some images from a book that borrowed from the library called, 'V&A pattern indian florals'. I stumbled upon this book one day and decided to borrow it because I really like the patterns in it and I thought that it would be perfect research for this project. I really like the intricate, elaborate designs and how they are from a differnt culture. I have scanned in my favourite designs form this book. Some of the patterns are also paisley which is my main theme for these textures. I have also scanned in some papers that my mum bought for me designed by Laura Ashley. The patterns on these are also floral and paisley. I like Laura Ashley designs.

horse brush

I created this horse brush on photoshop. These are my experiments of using the brush. I played around with the colour, size and spacing. I created this brush by tracing a photograph of a horse that I took, scanning it into photoshop, changed the threshold of it to make the lines darker, then I clicked on the define brush preset button and that was it. I like this brush. I will use it again.
